Picnicking in my Living Room with my Kids

Finding a fun activity to do during a rainy day is challenging. The electronics can help entertain an active child, but we don’t want our kids spending long hours in front of a screen. Here an idea: A living room picnic.

Having a picnic in your living room is an exited idea for big and small kids. I tried it with my kids and they love it.

To make the experience a success, try these simple ideas:
  • Move furniture around. It is not a problem if your living room is too small. You only need enough room to sit everybody on the floor.
  • Use a blanket. Put on a blanket to give the idea of the outside. It will also help you to keep the mess contained. Just in case a little person spills by accident his cup.
  • Let the kids help with the menu. Ask them what they want for their picnic.
  • Prepare your meal at the “picnic spot”. Don’t do your picnic meal at the kitchen, take the ingredients to your “picnic destination” and prepare them in place. Allow the kids to help you.
  • Continue the fun at your picnic area. After finishing your meal, you can keep pretending by outside. Try a quiet ball game or some table games.

Now that the freeze winds are coming and the days are getting shorter, we need ideas to spend an inside day full of amazing things to do.
